How do I schedule and appointment with the providers at Kid's Way Pediatrics?
Please call the office at (724) 981-1219 and direct the receptionist to schedule an appointment.
What if I have questions after hours or on weekends?
Dr. Duffy and Dr. Frank take after hours and weekend/holiday calls according to a schedule created by our physician colleagues in the community. We all share in the responsibility to provide medical care to the children of our region. However, due to variations in the schedule, neither Dr. Duffy nor Dr. Frank may be on call and you therefore may have speak to one of our colleagues. Either way, you can expect the same quality of care with each encounter.
Our family is growing. How can I get in touch with Dr. Duffy and/or Dr. Frank before my delivery?
Dr. Duffy and Dr. Frank are happy to offer prenatal consultation, free of charge, to all interested parents. Prenatal visits are an opportunity to introduce you to our practice and address your specific concerns and questions during this busy time.
What if I have a question throughout the day, but don't feel the need to make an urgent appointment?
Please call the office and ask to speak with one of our nursing staff. We have two dedicated and experienced pediatric nurses who are qualified to give medical advice over the telephone.
What if my child needs hospitalization?
Dr. Duffy and Dr. Frank have admitting privileges at both Sharon Regional and UPMC Horizon hospitals and are happy to care for your child should he/she need in-patient care. In addition, we can arrange for referral to our region's two major children's hospitals, Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
What if I have a preference as to which provider my child/children see?
Although we make every effort to accomodate your wishes, please understand that during peak busy season (i.e. winter cold and flu season) it may be necessary to schedule your child with the first provider available. Please let our office staff know in advance if you have any special scheduling requests.
My child uses a prescription medication regularly. What should I do regarding refills?
Our office has a dedicated refill telephone extension. When prompted, please press 1 to leave a voicemail message so that we may begin processing your request.
What about referrals to subspecialist care?
Please kindly give us 48 hours to coordinate care with subspecialists. Some insurers require prior authorization and this process may take a day or two. Press 5 when prompted by our phone message to make a referral request.
I've noticed that the wait time is occasionally more than expected. How does Kid's Way Pediatrics handle this situation?
We make every effort to accomodate your child's needs in the most efficient way possible, however, due to unexpected events or complicated patient encounters requiring our expertise, this occasionally means longer wait times. We make it our policy to give the best care possible every time, and will not sacrifice sound medical care and judgement just to "hurry things up."
Does the office have separate reception areas for ill and well children?
Yes. Our newly built office has separate space for both ill and well children. We make special efforts to lessen interactions between well and ill children.
I have billing questions. To whom should I direct those?
Our practice has an in-office full time billing specialist. Please press 3 when prompted by our phone message to access her voicemail.
I've heard the medical providers speak about ongoing and upcoming medical research. How do I inquire about my child becoming a study participant?
Kid's Way Pediatrics works closely with Primary Physicians Research (PPR), a Pittsburgh-based group of physician researchers with more than 30 years experience in the field. If you have further questions, please contact our Research Nurse Connie by pressing 6 when prompted by our phone message system. Parents can also find more information about PPR by accessing their website at www.pprresearch.com.
